Hartford HealthCare Rehabilitation Network offers rehabilitation for patients who come to us for the treatment of neck and/or back pain resulting from injuries, overuse or trauma.
Neck and/or back pain is rarely the result of one incident or injury, but rather months or years of cumulative trauma. Patients with poor posture, faulty body mechanics, stressful life and work habits and a general decline in physical fitness are candidates for therapy for neck and/or back pain.
The Back and Neck Care Program
Therapy interventions include:
- Review anatomy of spine.
- Learn about the causes of neck and back injuries.
- Understand the common types of neck and back disorders.
- Recognize and avoid potentially harmful situations.
- Review proper body mechanics with emphasis on lifting techniques and other activities
of daily living.
- Review and correct poor postural habits.

The McKenzie Method of Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy® is an active patient treatment philosophy that emphasizes prevention and intervention, and encourages patients to be in control of their own treatment. This is very consistent with the treatment philosophy of the therapists at Hartford HealthCare Rehabilitation Network.
The Physical Therapy and Back Care during Pregnancy and Postpartum Program was developed as part of Hartford HealthCare Rehabilitation Network’s (HHCRN) women’s health initiative.
