The goal of Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) Injury Prevention is to provide physicians, athletic trainers, strength coaches, therapists, and the athletic population access to clinically demonstrated methods to decrease the incidence of ACL injuries, particularly in the female athlete.

The ACL Injury Program

The program is conducted by certified athletic trainers, certified strength and conditioning specialists and physical therapists. The athlete’s progress is monitored to ensure full utilization of skills and proper technique throughout the program.

This program is geared towards all athletes and age groups, with emphasis on the female athlete. It is particularly effective for athletes in the following sports, where there is a higher incidence of injury to the anterior cruciate ligament:

  • Volleyball
  • Basketball
  • Soccer
  • Ice Hockey
  • Field Hockey
  • Lacrosse
  • Gymnastics
  • Cheerleading

The program utilizes educational and demonstration components to achieve its goals. Athletes are screened to identify potential risk factors and programs are customized to the athlete’s risk profile. The following are incorporated into the workout program:

  • Pre-exercise Stretching
  • Post-exercise Stretching
  • Plyometric-type (Jumping) Drills
  • Hamstring Strengthening
  • Core Strengthening
  • Foot Biomechanics
  • Shoe Analysis

Referral and Payment Information

Program can be offered in our clinics or onsite. Training offered in individual or group formats. Session length is 45 minutes to 1 hour .
