Arthritis is a significant health issue in the U.S. The Arthritis Foundation states that rheumatoid arthritis affects 1.3 million Americans, osteoarthritis affects 27 million Americans, and 300,000 children have some form of juvenile arthritis.
Research suggests that exercise can have a profound impact on function and pain management. As part of treatment for musculoskeletal diagnoses, Hartford HealthCare Rehabilitation Network collaborates with rheumatologists to provide individualized rehabilitation to persons with arthritis so they can manage their physical symptoms.
Patients with a diagnosis of arthritis who are experiencing loss of strength, mobility, function and/or pain are candidates for therapy.
