Evaluation
Every patient is unique and therefore will receive an individualized evaluation by a physical therapist, occupational therapist and/or a speech therapist. This may include:
- Measurements of your strength, motion, and quality of movement
- Assessment of your skin and scar and other related tissues
- Assessment of your cardiovascular endurance
- Assessment of your ability to swallow
- Assessment of your posture and body mechanics while performing routine daily activities such as lifting, carrying, and walking)

Therapy Treatments
Based on the results of this evaluation, the therapists(s) will create a treatment plan to address your individual needs. This may include:
- Skilled manual therapy
- Stretching and strengthening exercises to assist with functional activities
- Education on steps you can take to establish a regular exercise routine and optimize your recovery
Goals
The therapists at Hartford HealthCare Rehabilitation Network help individuals with cancer to:
- Regain strength, motion, function, and independence
- Learn how to manage the side effects of chemotherapy and radiation.
- Return to activities of daily living such as work and recreational activities.
